Movement

For many people, the term ‘physical activity’ is an immediate red flag: sweat, squats and spandex. Oh my, the spandex.

Getting active needn’t mean joining the gym however – there are plenty of ways to boost your physical activity in ways that won’t take up too much of your time or energy. Think of it in a broader sense – you’re building more movement into your life, and with it comes benefits to your mind as well as your body.

These include (but are certainly not limited to) boosting mood, brain power, and enhancing learning and memory.

Yoga

Yoga is a safe and effective way to build more movement into your life. It’s especially good for strength, flexibility and balance.

There’s also some evidence that regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains (including lower back pain), depression and stress.

Our yoga teacher, Abra Willis, is fully qualified and experienced in working with people who may be experiencing mental health difficulties. She’s also experienced in adapting her approach to clients with injuries (the common ones are knee or back injuries), giving you alternative instructions that fit around your needs.

What’s more, she kindly offers all of our clients an amazing 50% discount from her usual rate! Our classes run every Tuesday in Esher, just off the high street, and cost just £5 per session.

Now there’s no excuse not to give it a go!

Nintendo Wii

You can get moving in our drop in lounge with virtual tennis, boxing or golf on our Nintendo Wii. Our drop in is open 10am-4pm Monday – Thursday and our Nintendo Wii is available to use when there is not a lounge-based activity taking place.

Please check out our calendar for information on dates, times and location.
